Danny Rojas was born and raised in Garden City Kansas and became involved in music at a very early age. Growing up he was surrounded by music. His father is a drummer and several of his aunts and uncles were touring musicians. He began playing with the family band at the age of twelve and continued playing with them through high school. While playing with the family band he was recruited by Dan Gailey Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Kansas.
As a student in the KU Jazz department, Danny had the opportunity to learn and play with names such as; Michael Brecker, Dianne Reeves and Kevin Mahogany. He also had the opportunity to play compositions under the direction of Maria Schneider, Vince Mendoza and Jim McNeely. It was at KU where Danny developed his passion for Jazz Music. He was the 1996 winner of the Downbeat Award for "Best College Big Band" and the 1998 Downbeat Award winner for "Best Fusion Jazz Combo".
Currently Danny is enjoying playing with many artists in Kansas City and is helping to shape the culture of Kansas City Jazz.
